The Jelutong Expressway accident on Sunday, where three policemen manning a road block, three passengers in the car including the driver and a motorcyclist were killed.
After Inspection by Puspakom, the car was identify as a “kereta potong” (car welded from cannibalised parts), three of the four brake pads on the Proton Wira that crashed into a police road block were worn out.
“According to Puspakom, three brake pads were worn out and this might have caused the driver to lose control of the car after he braked suddenly while driving at high speed” (according to the newspaper report, the only survivor of the car said they were shocked when suddenly saw the police roadblock, so the driver pressed the emergency brake, then lose control of the car…) Why the police hold the roadblock in that place?

Until today, 19 people had so far died in the accidents along the 4.7km road since its opening two years ago. ( does it mean that this is the safety defect of the road ?)
So, WHO brought up such tradegy? The car dealer who sold the Kereta Potong to the driver? The Road Authority who doesn’t build road safely? The police that holds the roadblock in the expressway or the speedy driver himself?
Just a piece of note, kereta potong is not safe to drive, it will kill you someday… Be extra careful when buying an used car especially it is too cheap compares to the market price…
