The once famous Italian company, the Castagna, has created a retro-look concept, the Imperial Landaulet, inspired by the great grand touring cars of the ’20s.
The Imperial Landaulet concept, recalls an Isotta Fraschini model of the same name, created by the original Milanese coachbuilder. Over the years, Castagna created a series of stunning one-off bodies for Isotta Fraschini, Lancia and other Italian luxury brands before falling on hard times.
Here’s a little bit of the Castagna’s history: In the mid-1990s, there was a brief attempt to revive the Castagna name on an ugly Alfa-Romeo based design, which disappeared quickly. Recently, following a second revival, the new Carrozzeria Castagna has created a smaller car, similar to the Mini woody that shown last year, before attempting to recreate one of the classics.

The Imperial Landaulet is a non-running concept, but an 800-hp V12 engine is mounted in a 100% functioning prototype to be unveiled at this year’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.

The Castagna Imperial Landaulet is inspired by a custom-bodied Isotta Fraschini from the 1920s.
