NST News: Let the price war begin! Car importers have begun to slash car prices, within a week of the National Automotive Policy being announced by the Government.
Consumers are expected to benefit from the move which has seen some high-end car importers bringing prices down between RM20,000 and RM40,000.
Proton Holdings Bhd would slash its prices by MYR1,000-MYR3,000 - or between 2.5%-7%.
Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sdn Bhd said the four per cent cut applied to all its passenger cars except Kancil Ex 660 and 850 manual.Prices of the two models were reduced by RM300, Perodua said in a statement.
Prices for our Rusa van and Kembara sports utility vehicle will remain unchanged, despite increased duties now applicable.
UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd had reducing the prices of all Toyota cars it distributes between 5.6 per cent and 11 per cent depending on the models.
5.6 % cheaper for Toyota Vios 7%, for Toyota Altis.
However,the Toyota Innova and Avanza multi-purpose vehicles (MPVs) would be more expensive, in line with the expected price increase for such vehicles under the new duty structure.Hilux and Hiace would remain unchanged.
The Finance Ministry had been authorised to monitor the reduction in car prices as the Government was not satisfied with it.So Do We!!
