As we might all know that flat tyres may well lead to tyre punctures if we do not realized it any time sooner. Not only the inconvenience of changing puncture tyres that often makes us frustrated but also the danger in changing it along the road side, or worst loss of steering control when a tyre failure at high speed.
The new Renault Modus has selected Johnson Controls tyre pressure monitoring system to constantly monitor the air pressure of the tyres. This will keep the driver inform about the air pressure of all four tires via a convenient display.
Automatic tyre pressure monitoring works through wireless sensors fitted on the valves of the wheel rims. The readings are transmitted by radio signals to the tire indicator display on the instrument panel. If the readings deviate from the target levels, the driver is alerted through a visual or acoustic warning signal.

What a delightful technology to be hear of! Although this has been particularly developed for those drop-top vehicles, but I guess it will be very much useful for all vehicles in Malaysia as well. As Malaysians enjoy plentiful of sunlight almost everyday, is really common for us to feel that burning steering wheel and seats when we have to park our car in the open area.
So this problem is now solved by using special treatment of the leather which can reflects direct sunlight in the invisible waveband. As a result, the surfaces do not become as hot as usual and maintain a pleasantly low temperature.

It was a big coverage today on TheStar news about car theft cases in Malaysia. According to the report, Proton’s car top the theft list. Among the favorable models are Wira, Waja and Perdana. Not only that, luxury cars such as Toyota Harrier, BMW and Mercedes are among the popular targets by the group syndicate.
It was said that, most stolen vehicles were either smuggled out of the country as a full unit, cannibalised for local and “export use, used for cut-and-join parts, or sometimes just used for joyride.
Below are the statement by ACP Abdul Halim:
“it was also difficult to track vehicles that had been loaded into containers to be shipped out of the country, because the forwarding companies did not state the actual contents of the containers. “
“it was impossible for Customs officers to inspect every container as thousands of containers are shipped out every day and currently there was no device to scan the containers. ”
Is that an excuse of not nabbing down those car syndicate smuggler out stolen cars out of Malaysia?

A fowarded mail i received recently… You might read this before
For all of us who feel only the deepest love and affection for the way computers have enhanced our lives, read on.
At COMDEX recently, Bill Gates reportedly compared the computer industry with the auto industry and stated, “If GM had kept up with the technology like the computer industry has, we would all be driving $25.00 cars that got 1,000 miles to the gallon.”
In response to Bill’s comments, General Motors issued a press release stating: If GM had developed technology like Microsoft, we would all be driving cars with the following characteristics:
1. For no reason whatsoever, your car would crash twice a day.
2. Every time they repainted the lines in the road, you would have to buy a new car.
3. Occasionally your car would die on the freeway for no reason. You would have to pull over to the side of the road, close all of the windows, shut off the car, restart it, and reopen the windows before you could continue. For some reason you would simply accept this.
4. Occasionally, executing a maneuver such as a left turn would cause your car to shut down and refuse to restart, in which case you would have to reinstall the engine.
5. Macintosh would make a car that was powered by the sun, was reliable, five times as fast and twice as easy to drive, but would run on only five percent of the roads.
6. The oil, water temperature, and alternator warning lights would all be replaced by a single “This Car Has Performed An Illegal Operation” warning light.
7. The airbag system would ask “Are you sure?” before deploying.
8. Occasionally, for no reason whatsoever, your car would lock you out and refuse to let you in until you simultaneously lifted the door handle, turned the key and grabbed hold of the radio antenna.
9. Every time a new car was introduced, car buyers would have to learn how to drive all over again, because none of the controls would operate in the same manner as the old car.
10. Oh yeah, and last but not least . . . you’d have to press the “Start” button to turn the engine off!

Government will continue to encourage public transport operators, especially buses and taxis to use natural gas for their vehicles (NGV) as it has been found that its price is far lower than diesel or petrol.(about 42 per cent less than the petrol price)
Given real situation: The distance between Seremban and Kuala Lumpur city is about 100km, driving a normal 1500cc petrol car will cost you around RM15, but if your car using NGV it will only cost you RM4. A pretty big saving isn’t it? The fall back that is you need to spend around Rm3K-4k to turn your petrol car into NGV. If this is not a problem for you, then try driving around and look for NGV station and then wait in a long queue to get your car gas fuel. Well, I guess this might already turn many people away… (KL Taxi drivers always complaint on the insufficiency of NGV station)
Goverment said that, 12 more NGV stations will be build before the end of this year. Which now 39 stations in total. Currently all NGV station is operated by Petronas. (How can we be possibly suffer from insufficient of NGV station in Malaysia?)
In some developed country, they have already using biodisel and hybrid technology in their public transport system, which is less pollution and cheaper.

There are people in South Pacific has adapted their cars with coconut oil instead of diesel fuel. As the story told that, this coconut oil is unlike other types of biodiesel, which it doesn’t required transesterized (mixed with sodium hydroxide and alcohol to change its chemical composition in order to run in diesel engine), but instead coconut oil can be used by just filthering and warmed it to temperatures about 25C. That’s sound easy…
It is said that coconut oil burns more slowly, and it can produced pressure on engine pistons, reducing engine wear, and lubricates the engine more effectively. The only thing is, it can only be used in a modified diesel engine.

The discount traffic fines offered which was supposed to end today, will be extended until Sept 30th. According to the news, the public response of such offer is overwhelming as there are long queues in every state’s payment counter. The extension was said to give motorists more time to settle their summonses. In the mean time, all payment counter was ordered to be operate from 8am to 10pm.

Wednesday, the Cabinet agreed to the proposal to raise the minimum age for motorcyclist from 16 to 17, and to immediately suspend a driver’s licence upon committing seven serious traffic offences.
Among the serious offences could lead to the 14-day suspension of a driver’s license are the following:
. Driving in a reckless or dangerous manner to the extent of causing death.
. Beating the traffic light.(no suspension)
. Driving in a careless and inconsiderate manner.
. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
. Driving or in-control of a motor vehicle while the alcohol level in the blood system exceeded the permitted level.
. Driving in excess of 40km/h above the speed limit
(all offences involved both the motorists and motorcyclists)
I totally agree with the moved of the goverment to take stern action on those offended driver. But on the other side, why reduced the summon that needs to be paid by them? No point isn’t it? So, traffic offended can have discount, don’t you think so?
