Well, this probably a good news to all car owners whom going to paid car road tax like me end of the month…
Vehicles road tax will be reduced between 25 to 80 percent effective this Monday, an immediate measure to cushion the impact of the oil price hike, the government announced Wednesday.
School buses From Rm10 –>RM2 a year
Private vehicles below 1,000 cc reduce to RM30 a year.
Private vehicles between 1,000 cc and 1,600 cc cut by 50%
Motorcycles below 150 cc RM0 ( no changed)
Motorcycles between 151 cc and 250 cc cut by 50%
Commercial vehicles cut by 50%
Also stated :
1. Price of petrol, diesel and cooking gas will not be raised till the end of the year (but this is not guarantee)
2. toll rates on all highways would not be raised this year and the next year (so, goverment still need to compensate PLUS on this decision?)
My thinking is: Since our goverment has to bear the cost of subsidize petrol for RM16 billion, why not subsidize like 5% or few million dollars into biodisel research, to develop this enviromental friendly resource cheaper and can be widely use in malaysia?
