Budget 2006 seems Not surprising on the auto industry, the long waited NAP(National Automotive Policy) still not disclosed. Maybe they are all waiting for Radifah to explain or annouced on the new AP policy?
Anyway, there are still some good news for the auto industry in this Budget 2006.
1.)Road Tax reduced again after Sept 12th announcement. Except in Sarawak, road tax on the private diesel vehicles exceeding 1600cc will be reduced by 40 percent effectively from Oct 5th, 2005. Presently, road tax for diesel vehicles is higher than petrol vehicles except in Sarawak.
If you driving a diesel pickup like Mitshubishi Storm you might be benefit from this… Of coz provided it is private used and not company used. So I was wondering if there are people who regrets of not considered buying a diesel car before.
2.)The diesel oil bus and the carrier vehicle achievement changes to the natural gas the fuel switch, exemption import duty and sales tax.
â—?Local vehicles assembly business or the manufacturer assembly solely uses the natural gas on the bus and the carrier vehicle, exemption vehicle plate import duty.
â—?Local vehicles assembly business or the manufacturer, divert solely uses the natural gas engine on the bus and the carrier vehicle, exemption import duty.
So my final question and concern: is bus fare going to reduce after this? (yah, i hear what u said, rather impossible, isn’t it?)

If in the future, where there are no single car accident, how creative car styling can be?
The world safety car leader had just published 2020 Mobility, a new car styling strategy for the next 15 years. Volvo car’s designers are exploring new mobility futures with a view to re-imagining the very notion of car mobility and safety.
This is what the Volvo chief designer Anders Gunnarson said:
“If you don’t have accidents, styling can change dramatically, There’s no need for bumpers, crumple zones or anti-whiplash seats. And with weight cut, a big engine or high-performance brakes are unnecessary. A totally glass exterior is possible.”
Picture Below:

Traditionally, Volvo cars has been associated with protective safety systems. In later years, more and more features related to preventive safety have been introduced so the company can remain competitive in the quest for safety-conscious car buyers.
A New safety paradigm shifted: Volvo went into car styling + emotion design
Would you believe that accident will no longer happen in the future? My view is that, as long as the car is driven by human, accident will always there, not matter how intelligent the new car technology can be.

Jaguar has revealed details of a world-first deployable bonnet system on its new XK.

If the car collides with a pedestrian, a sensor in the front bumper releases the bonnet in one-tenth of the time it takes to blink an eye.
A pyrotechnic ram with an acceleration rate of around 50 times the force of gravity lifts the 18kg bonnet in about 30 milliseconds. ( but not enough to lift u up to the air, so no worry)

If you still do not understand how it works, Top Gear has a video to explain. Watch it here
In addition, bumpers with crushed foam and a plastic covering are designed to avoid leg injuries, while advanced sensors are mounted in the front bumper to help discriminate between a pedestrian impact and any other possible collisions.
So Why Jaguar Build This??
Legislation in the European market requires manufacturers to commit to a two-phase introduction of a range of improvements on all new cars to improve pedestrian safety, and, according to Jaguar, the system meets Phase One of the legislation.(Air bag has become a compulsory safety requirement in many euro country, just why malaysia did not enforce it? Is our life not worth enough?)
I am just wondering, is the system smart enough to detect what object it knocked? Once it knocked pedestrian, it is ok for it to blow, but what if it knocked down with another car or some small animal such as dog?

Wondering if there is such a thing call ‘trendy color’ in cars just like fashion? Saw this article from UK mag saying that black and grey cars are coming back in vogue based on the figures released by Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders in UK. Up until now, silver is still the most popular color and it is said to be looking good in almost any kind of cars generally. The number of red cars sold has been reduced to half compares to years before 1998. Perhaps, red only blends well in Ferrari, well of course not any type of red color but the legendary ferrari red…
